You can now literally explore the Himalayas in a fun way, thanks to Verne: The Himalayas – a fun app developed by the talented developers of Google Creative Lab. The game is based on a Yeti named Verne that will give you the tour of majestic Mount Everest in a fun way.
The new app is known as to be the experiment by Google which will take advantage of Google Maps 3D imagery feature but in a different perspective. The app is known to combine the ability of Google Maps 3D imagery function with a bit of a gameplay option letting you explore the Himalayas with a 500-foot giant Yeti.
The app will let you have full control of Yeti; once you enter the valley of the mountain range the app will present you a map letting you be guided throughout your journey with detailed information. As a Yeti you can jump and climb to your expedition i.e. Mount Everest, don’t worry you will not be forced to use limited options. The Yeti in the app can go skating, ride a jetpack, chase argali, what’s more interesting is that the app will educate you by delivering important information about the Mount Everest via voice narrators.
While such app is a fun way to educate and inform people about Mount Everest, we think that Google should start developing more fun app like this by integrating monumental places like Pyramid, Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower and much more. If you are an Android 4.4 Kitkat(or above) user, the app can be downloaded from Google Play Store. Unfortunately, the app is currently not available in Nepal but you can create a new Google account with a different location (probably the USA) (Google it if you don’t know) and simply download the app from Play Store.
