Samsung has officially stated that they will permanently discontinue any sales, promotion or manufacturing of the infamous Galaxy Note 7. As stated the Korean giant is urging all of the users to power down their respective Note 7 which are either original or replaced.
The outrageous incident will deeply affect the Samsung Mobile brand socially and economically. Announced in August 2016 the Note 7 was quick to grab the attention of the enthusiasts both in a positive and negative way. Equipped with an infrared iris scanner the new Note series from Samsung was deemed to be the saviour of Samsung Mobile but rather it turned out to be a total catastrophe. After grabbing attention, insidiously, the news of the first Note 7 catching fire surrounded the whole internet, with 35 devices quickly to follow the incident. Later Samsung issued an official recall of the phone, resulting in a ban on the usage of the smartphone in most of the possible places including airports.
Bearing all the criticism the Korean giant quickly followed up with replacement units, which basically was a financial loss for them. The replaced units were flashed with green battery indicators which would help users and authorities to differentiate it with the old ones. The company even limited most of the unreplaced Note 7 from charging over 60%.
While it was a sigh of relief for most of the users as well as the company, the incident got more complicated as the replaced units started burning down too. The first incident was witnessed in a Southwest Airlines flight. After studying the replaced Note 7 thoroughly, Samsung finally called all the Note 7 users to turn the device off and safely return it to the stores. Although the users who were graced with Note 7 will surely get a replacement or refund, the catastrophic incident will surely injure Samsung’s global reputation.
