Just after the launch of its Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, Huawei has added the smartphone to the Mate 9 lineup. Dubbed as the Huawei Mate 9 Lite, the phone is especially targeted to those budget conscious users. The phone was silently listed on the company’s official website today.
The mid-ranger from Huawei comes with a 5.5-inch Full-HD display with a 2.5D curved glass complementing its looks. Underneath, the phone is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 655 chipset with an octa-core CPU. The phone comes in two variants including the 3GB RAM + 32GB onboard storage and the 4GB RAM + 64GB onboard storage — both expandable via a microSD card.
Despite carrying “Lite” branding, the phone boasts a dual-camera at the back like its counterparts. While the lens is definitely not Leica approved, the phone is equipped with a 12MP + 2MP dual sensor at the back letting you utilize to create bokeh effects. The main 12MP sensor features PDAF and autofocus. Up front, there’s an 8MP camera for selfies and video chats.
The phone carries premium design with a full metal body measuring just 8.2mm in thickness. Huawei hasn’t revealed anything about the price of Mate 9 Lite, however, we’re expecting it to be priced reasonably considering its Lite branding.
