The wait is finally over, Nepal Telecom has officially introduced its 4G service in Nepal. Unfortunately, for the first phase, the service is only available for postpaid users residing in Kathmandu and Pokhara. However, the company has stated that prepaid users will get to enjoy the service soon.
Although NTC has already mentioned that not all Postpaid users(mostly with old SIM) will get to use the service, users can always opt in for a new SIM which resembles the old phone number. After that, make sure your smartphone can make the full use of NTC’s 4G service — NTC 4G/LTE service works on FDD band 3 with 1800MHz frequency. After all the necessary steps, interested users can simply dial *444# and activate the service for free of charge.
Postpaid users who activate the 4G service will get a free 1GB of data pack for 4 days starting from today. After the end of the period, users will be able to enjoy the service for Rs. 1.27 per MB, which is similar to the price of NTC’s 3G service. Right after the activation, users can surf the internet at a speed of more than 30Mbps.
