Sony has showcased their future flagship phones, the Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs at MWC 2017. The main highlight of these two devices is that both can capture slow motion videos at 960fps — 4x slower than other smartphones available in the market. The XZ Premium also comes with a 4K display, which seems like an overkill, but it’s still a welcome addition for us.
Sony Xperia XZ Premium
As the name suggests, the premium flagship from Sony is really hard to ignore, considering the plethora of feature that the device has to offer. As mentioned above, the 5.5-inch 4K display might still seem an overkill for most of us, the sharpness and contrast that it brings should be appreciated, bearing that it now supports HDR too. Another highlight of the handset tends to be its camera. The new camera is now capable of shooting slow motion videos at 960fps, a truly remarkable benchmark set by Sony, however, the slow motion video is captured at 720p.
Internal specs include Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, expandable via microSD card slot.
Beside those 4K displays, the 5.5-inch Triluminous screen from Sony is now 40{36e0204d4787f73122fcb1e17fa2cf53ad675a621d12c60fa6f762fd2fe714bb} brighter, offering an impressive viewing angle, even in broader daylights. While the 4K display and camera are appreciatable, we shouldn’t forget about how well the XZ Premium is built. The premium glass loop surface wraps the whole phone, making it an appealing phone for trendsetters.
The whole phone boots on Android 7.0 Nougat with minimal bloatware and packs a 3230mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0 support. As usual, Sony has embedded the fingerprint scanner into the power button, at side.
Sony Xperia XZs
Sony’s second Xperia doesn’t come short of a feature. The Xperia XZs has a lot to offer in terms of design, build quality and most importantly the camera. The phone sports a 5.2-inch Full-HD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The phone is powered by an older Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, while it comes with 4GB of RAM.
Shifting focus to the imaging department, it’s where the phone shines the most. The phone is equipped with a 19MP 1/2.3″ sensor with an aperture of f/2.0. The camera of the phone shines Predictive & Laser autofocus, and an RGBC-IR sensor for natural color rendering.
The Motion Eye camera of the XZs can shoot video on 4K with SteadyShot 5-axis digital stabilization, meaning, less stutter and more steady shots. As stated by Sony, they have also improved the Panorama mode, which is assured to increase the resolution of the shot.
Up front, the phone boasts an impressive 13MP camera with 22mm wide-angle lens for in-depth selfies and video chats.
The Xperia XZs will be available for purchase from April in three different colors, including Black, Warm Silver, and Ice Blue. So what do you think about the two new Xperia series from Sony? Let us know in the comment box below.
