Ambe Mobiles, the company behind the distribution of Lava smartphones in Nepal has officially launched the new iris 80. The handset is priced at Rs. 11,499 and comes with a 5-inch 720p IPS screen complemented with a 2.5D curved glass. Despite being an entry-level phone, the Lava iris 80 comprises some notable features and will go head to head against the like of Huawei Y5 2017.
Inside, the smartphone is powered by 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core CPU and Mali-T720 GPU. The RAM is 1GB, whereas the onboard storage is mere 8GB, which thankfully is expandable via a microSD card slot up to 64GB. Camera wise, the phone comes with an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and on-going fill flash, while up front, there’s a 5MP sensor with 84-degree wide-angle lens and a similar LED flash. The company has also claimed that the phone’s both front and rear cameras are capable of creating a bokeh effect.
As for the software, the Lava iris 80 boots on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box accompanied by the company’s own Star OS 4.0. The whole phone drags the power from a 2500mAh battery inside, whilst, there’s also a fingerprint scanner at the back with an unlock time of 0.3seconds. Alongside unlocking the phone, the fingerprint scanner can also be used to launch applications with just a touch of your finger.
Connectivity of the phone includes a dual-SIM slot with LTE support, WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and A-GPS. The handset can be purchased from Lava’s authorized retailers located across the nation.
