After numerous rumors, Xiaomi has finally taken the wrap off their new Mi Mix 2; just a day before the Apple event. The phone is a successor to last year’s Mi Mix and bears an improvement upon it.
This year Xiaomi has opted for a smaller 5.99-inch screen as opposed to Mi Mix’s 6.4-inch display. The 18:9 display of Mi Mix 2 is as beautiful as it gets, thanks to its bezel-less screen and a curved glass on both sides. Inside, the Mi Mix 2 rocks Snapdragon 835 chipset paired up with 6GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of storage. If that’s not enough for you, Xiaomi has a Special Edition under its inventory. The Special Edition comes with a ceramic body and 8GB of RAM coupled up with 128GB of internal storage.
Now let’s take a look at its back. The reflective back of the phone shines a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor with 4-axis OIS; similar to Mi 6. It’s quite surprising that Xiaomi hasn’t implemented a dual-camera module on this flagship. And for selfies, there’s a decent 5MP sensor, up front.
Powering the phone will be a 3,400mAh battery with support for QuickCharge 3.0, while the phone will boot on Android 7.1 Nougat on top of MIUI 9. As far as pricing is concerned, the base model(6GB + 64GB) is priced at RMB 3,299(approx $505), whereas the 128GB and 256GB variant will go for RMB 3,599(approx $551) and RMB 3,999(approx $612) respectively. As for the Special Edition, be ready to shell out RMB 5,477(approx $839).
