The 2017 Ford EcoSport has been officially unveiled in Nepal. The compact SUV is now updated heavily both inside and outside as well, with a new look, more features, and a new petrol engine. Back in 2013, Ford kick-started the subcompact SUV segment which was well received by most of the users, however, this time, the competition has got tougher with the likes of Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V, and the new offering from the TATA; the TATA Nexon.
First of all, the front face has been changed to the new hexagonal grille and sharp, angular headlamps with DRL along with the redesigned front bumper and fog lamps. The 17-inch alloy wheels – shod with 205/50 R17 tires (on the Titanium+ variant) – feature a new design as well. There are also new spare wheel cover and revised taillights. And finally, the roof rails are also new as well.
Talking about the interior, it has also been upgraded even though the basic design of the dash is somehow the same, but the center console gets a new 8-inch touch screen infotainment system with Ford’s SYNC 3. The instrument cluster and steering wheel are also all-new and the cabin is also now dual toned which gives more premium feelings.
The face-lifted EcoSport will receive the new touchscreen infotainment system with Ford’s SYNC 3 software, Apple Car Play, and Android Auto which looks promising. It also gets cruise control, a speed-limiter function, a rear-view camera, automatic wipers, headlamps and climate control, a tire pressure monitoring system, dual USB ports, steering-mounted audio controls and relaxing paddle shifters for the automatic variant. The top-spec’d variant boasts six airbags and ABS with EBD, along with electronic stability control, traction control, hill-launch assist and emergency brake assist for the automatic variant.
Powering the EcoSport is the Ford’s all-new Dragon series of petrol engines. The new 1.5-litre three-cylinder unit in the EcoSport makes 123hp and 150Nm of torque. The engine comes with the five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic. Whereas, on the other hand, the diesel engine is powered by the same old 1.5-litre diesel engine that puts out 100hp and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The new Ford EcoSport 2017 can be purchased in Nepal for price ranging from Rs. 33,90,000 for Petrol Manual Transmission variants, Rs. 42,90,000 – Rs. 48,90,000 for Petrol Automatic Transmission variants and Rs. 38,90,000 – Rs. 49,90,000 for Diesel Manual Transmission variants.
