The BYD e6 is all set to launch in Nepal, all thanks to Cimex Inc., the authorized distributor of BYD electric vehicles in Nepal. Expect it to hit the road of Nepal in the first half of 2018 as the pre-booking has already started with an expected price of around Rs. 50,00,000 for the base model.
In case you’re wondering, BYD is the automobile manufacturing company based in Xi’an Shaanxi, China. The e6 shouldn’t be considered as a slouch since the company was recognized as the world’s top-selling electric vehicle in 2016.
The BYD e6 is an all-electric compact crossover/compact MPV with a range of 400km and 300km. Aesthetically, the car looks big whilst maintaining a simple design language at the same time. Likewise, the interior looks nothing short of graceful and spacious, offering enough headroom and knee room. Inside, the cabin also looks simple and has centrally mounted digital instrument cluster and info screen. The vehicle boasts selector (gear lever) and two pedals: go and stop. Other feature includes cruise control system, charging time system, vehicle fault diagnosis system, and Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA).
BYD has already set the benchmark with e6 in Europe as a comfortable and powerful driving vehicle and is operating as a taxi service and a family car. The vehicle reaches 0-60kmph in less than 8 seconds and has 450 NM of torque. The BYD e6 has six-airbags for the safety of driver and passengers.
The all-electric vehicle comprises of four different power combination; 101hp (75kW), 101+54hp (75+40kW), 215hp (160kW) and 215+54 hp (160+40kW). Most of the battery pack is located on the belly pan of the vehicle. The two-motor options use front and rear motors, making the car all-wheel drive. The brakes are improvised with ABS+EBD combined.
The company claims that the driving range depends on the driving condition. Running the air condition or driving uphill will reduce the range as compared to the city riding. BYD provides a 20-year warranty for the Fe battery. After the launch of the vehicle, the company is also planning to plant the fast charging station across the valley, which could prove to be a selling point.
