After two years — they first showcased the concept bike the “Akula” in the Indian Auto Expo — TVS Motors has finally launched the Apache RR 310 derived from the same concept bike. The Apache RR 310 is the first motorcycle after TVS Motors’ aligned with BMW Motorrad, which flourished alongside the BMW G310R. Interestingly, the Apache RR310 is also TVS Motors’ first-ever flagship premium sports bike.
The bike has an edgy and sharp design, which looks appealing and the company claims that the Apache RR 310 has been wind tunnel tested extensively. The twin LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, tall windscreen and racing stripe are all there, placing it on the list with the likes of other high-end sports bike. The Apache RR 310 boasts a 41mm upside down forks finished in a gold accent which results in sporty looks. The sports bike is a large motorcycle when viewed from the sides while making it look like bigger cc bikes.
Akula means shark in Russian which can be clearly seen on the fin-like design of the vents. The aerodynamic design and the presence of the vents on the sides are designed to pass away the hot air coming from the engine and radiator from the rider. The shark-fin design continues towards the rear and the taillight also gets the shark tail design which looks beautiful.
In the front, the design of the instrument console is very uniquely placed as a vertical layout. The RR 310 is equipped with a full-digital, vertically arranged instrument panel with multiple information displays, including a lap timer and of course a gear indicator. Being TVS Motors’ flagship product the company did not hesitate to maintain its premium quality level, which also tends to be its main highlight. Apache RR 310 comes with very high-quality standards and paint finish, quality of plastics and fitment of panels is all superior and looks promising. The motorcycle comes in 2 impressive colors – Racing Red and Sinister Black.
The TVS Apache RR 310 bears the similar 312cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine as the BMW G310R that outputs 34 PS @ 9700 rpm and 27.3 NM @ 7700 rpm. The engine is accompanied by 6-speed super-slick gearbox that offers a precise and sharp race-shift experience.
TVS Motors has stated that the bike will go 0-60kmph time of 2.93 seconds while gaining a top speed of 160kmph. The engine uses a reverse inclined architecture which is leaned towards the rear of the motorcycle and has its intake towards the front and the exhaust towards the rear. Thankfully, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system, will be available as standard.
