The New 2018 3rd Gen Maruti Suzuki Swift is all set to be launched at the upcoming Indian Auto Expo. This 3rd iteration of the car is from the new platform, though, it will be powered by the same 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine seen on its predecessor.
The car is going to be available in both manuals as well as automatic gearboxes. They are lining up a total of 12 variants from – Lxi, Vxi, Vxi AGS, Zxi, Zxi AGS, and ZXi+ to be the petrol head, and Ldi, Vdi, Vdi AGS, Zdi, Zdi AGS, and Zdi+ as the diesel head. But automatic transmission will be available in the VXi and the ZXi models on both petrol and diesel.
The design language tells it all, with all the curves it looks sportier than before. In the front, the Swift gets the edgy radiator grill and new sweptback projector headlamps along with integrated daytime running lamps (DRLs) making the car look more aggressive. Below the headlamps, there’s a provision of the fog light stretch along with the air dam housing which now been stretched across the width of the bumper.
What’s noticeable on the side profile is that there’s no door handle which has been repositioned next to the rear pillar and the floating roofline which speaks the design language of the old gen swift. And, also the precision cut alloy wheels with dual tone colour. On the rear, it also gets the all new LED rear combination lamp.
The interior also receives a heavy upgrade. And like the exterior, it also gives the feeling of the sporty car. Firstly, the upmarket design and quality materials along with premium feature are what 3rd Gen swift is all about. The company is also providing the compact car with six colours, however, the dual tone colour is no longer a thing of the setup.
The new swift is now 90 kgs lighter, 40mm wider, with 20mm longer wheelbase, 24mm more headroom and 28% more boot space. The interiors will get features like a flat bottom Steering wheel with multiple function controls, a new twin-pod instrument cluster, and a touchscreen infotainment system (Apple CarPlay and Android auto) with automatic climate control on the top variant, which is mostly focused towards the driver’s seat.
