Well, Hyundai has dominated in the midsized SUV segment with the Creta — all thanks to the road condition here in Nepal. But they haven’t had that success in the sedan segment ever since the popularity of the midsize SUV got the traction in Nepal. However, that hasn’t stopped Hyundai launching its all range of vehicles in Nepal. And now, for sedan lovers, Hyundai has got the all-new Verna 2017. The base Verna EX is priced at Rs. 42,96,000 in Nepal, whereas it’s Rs. 44,96,000 for the SX and Rs. 49,46,000 for the EX automatic.
The 2017 variant of Hyundai Verna is completely based on the new platform i.e. K2 platform, which is the same platform from where its elder sibling “Elantra” comes from. Being the part of the K2 platform, the new Verna is now longer and wider than before, resulting to the increase in the interior space that can hold 480litre of the boot and additional space for the legroom in the passenger seat.
This has also increased the wheelbase of the car. Other than that, the sedan’s 50% of the body structure is made from the advanced high strength steel making it more rigid than before.
In the front, it has the cascading grill, LED headlight cornering lamps, an electric sunroof, a LED tail lamp, and newly designed 16inch alloy wheels. However, the back of the car looks somehow that of the Coupe style cars stance.
The interior of the new Verna is loaded with tons of fancy features. The dash looks quite impressive with dual toned colour and spacious as well. There’s a 7-inch TFT-LCD touchscreen infotainment system in the centre of the dash with the best UI integrated with Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
On the steering wheels, there are buttons to have control over the music, volume, and command system. It also gets the Arkamys Sound system and ventilated seats for comfortable riding which is first in its segment and in addition to that there’s also a rear a/c vents.
The new Hyundai Verna 2017 pumps out the max power of 126.4 bhp @ 4000 rpm and max torque of 260 Nm @ 3000 rpm mated with the 6-speed gearbox in the manual version. The car has an average mileage of 20kmpl on the highway and 16kmpl on the city.
Talking about the safety, it gets Dual Airbags standard and six airbags on the top variants. Also, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) comes as standards across all variants. The sedan also has the ISOFIX mounts in the rear seat to mount a child seat securely in the back, while it also gets reverse parking camera, and power door locks.
