The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is the beauty and the beast that you can not resist.
Albeit late launch, Xiaomi has joined this year’s bezel-less party with a range of other smartphones. Vatsal Impex, the authorized distributors of Xiaomi smartphones in Nepal has pulled the drape off their new Mi Mix 2 in Nepal. A successor to last year’s Mi Mix, the second iteration of the beautiful beast surprisingly goes low-ball this time.
Design, WOW!?
While the whole world is wowing the design of iPhone X from Apple, the Mi Mix 2 sits there silently and delivers on every aspect [for half the price]. The combination of premium ceramic back plate and a 5.99-inch (18:9 aspect ratio) bezel-less display makes it an exquisite piece of hardware; giving you an experience that no other phone could provide. Although its predecessor, last year, came with a piezoelectric sensor, this time Xiaomi somehow has managed to cramp the earpiece above the display.

Powerful internals
Let’s now talk about the internals. Shall we? The brilliantly built phone is backed up by Snapdragon 835 chipset (still the latest) with a clock speed of 2.45GHz. The memory hungry apps and tasks will be handled by a 6GB of RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage. However, it’s a bummer that the phone still has no microSD card slot for expansion.
Camera, Not for “PROS”. Definitely for us.
Optically, the phone’s no sag either. Although the lack of dual-camera might haunt some “Pro” photographers; for most of us, the single sensor will still get the job done. There’s a 12MP rear camera with 1.25μm pixel size, 4-axis OIS, PDAF, and f/2.0 aperture with some low-light enhancement. The low-front of the phone rather comes with an ok-ish 5MP sensor with Xiaomi’s own beauty software for capturing those duck-faced selfies.
OS, A bummer?
Another bummer (sort of) comes in the form of software. The phone still runs on Android 7.1 Nougat, however, that might change soon with Xiaomi working on the Oreo update. Despite old OS, the MIUI 9 comes with some handy software features, including night mode, reading mode, and colour temperature adjustment.
Decent battery
Powering the phone is a 3,400mAh battery with a talk time of around 17 hours. Fortunately, there’s Quick Charge 3.0 support. You can charge the phone via the USB Type-C port. Other noticeable feature includes a fingerprint scanner, ultrasonic proximity sensor, gyroscope, and more.
