As expected, Samsung Mobile Nepal has officially unveiled the much awaited Galaxy A8 Plus in Nepal. Launched back in December of 2017, the mid-ranger from Samsung sees an upgrade from the Galaxy A7(2017). This also now officially confirms the arrival of infinity display in Samsung’s mid-range hardware.
The display is not the only thing the device is known for. The new Galaxy A8 Plus now comes with Samsung’s first ever dual selfie camera. The pair of 16MP + 8MP cohesively works wonder to produce clear and crisp photos, while the Live Photo will be helpful to create portrait selfies with blurred background.
“At Samsung, consumer-centric innovations are at the heart of our business. With Galaxy A8+, we are bringing our customers’ favorite features from our flagship smartphones, such as the Infinity Display and our first Dual Front Camera with Live Focus, to our Galaxy A series. Galaxy A8+ comes with flagship features, never before seen on a smartphone in this price segment. It defies the ordinary and challenges the status quo. It is a phone with attitude, in all aspects.”
– Mr. Pranaya Ratna Sthapit, Head IM Biz, Samsung Nepal.
Just below that dual selfie camera is a beautiful 18.5:9 infinity display from Samsung. The 6-inch Full-HD display offers eye-popping visuals and contents, all thanks to the Super AMOLED technology. This does make media consumption a treat for all most all users.
In case you’re wondering, the phone’s made out of a glass back, just like the recent S and Note series, however, the fingerprint scanner has been shifted below the camera — a handy place to reach. Talking about the rear camera, the phone boasts a 16MP sensor at the back with a f/1.7 aperture; which should prove to be helpful for shooting images in the low-lighting condition. And the digital stabilization that the phone possesses, make things less shaky.
Thankfully, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus is IP68 certified; a sigh of relief for those with clumsy hands, while the 3,500mAh battery is something you would need for a phone of this calibre.
Under the hood, Samsung’s Exynos 7885 octa-core chipset is powering the phone accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of ample internal storage. If that’s not sufficient then you do have an option to expand the memory for up to 256GB.
The only caveat here is that the phone still runs on Android 7.1 Nougat, despite all the latest and greatest. However, I expect Samsung to figure this out with a quick Oreo update, at least within March.
