It took generation after generation of the Mustang to come out for it to finally cross the threshold to Nepal. Go Automobile, the authorized distributor of the Ford cars for Nepal has brought the muscle car from America — the 2017 Ford Mustang GT Fastback. The Mustang was the showstopper last time it was here in Nepal back in the Nada Auto Show and the price was rumored to be somewhere around three crores. But finally, here it is with the whopping price tag of Rs. 1.69 crores in Nepal.
It’s the first time that this car is offered with the right-hand drive after when its sales were initiated in India back in 2017. Even though we Nepalese had to wait for long just to see and feel its muscle, the legacy still remains same. Every edge of the Mustang is tough muscle and with the length of the five meter along with that width and a ground clearance of 137mm, the road presence for this car can be counted as a feature for sure.
The broad and aggressive front, 19-inch wheels, and the signature grill with the new LED headlight which look super angry gives the car an aggressive posture. And throwback elements like a stretched bonnet, broad rear and tri sled LED tail light maintains the Mustang’s legacy. The Mustang carries more of the sharp attitude and strips on the shoulder line of the car. It is also the Euro specs version of the car and the DRLs also housed along with the fog lamps.
The interior of the car is where every car enthusiast would love to be. There are aluminum touches given in the front. As a Grand Tourer, it houses bucket seats to hold you in tight corners. The steering wheels are also styled classically with three spokes retro finishing. Behind the steering wheel, there’s a chrome-accent 4-gauge instrument cluster.
It gets infotainment system in the middle and below that it has a toggle switch to control different functions. For instance, multiple driving modes like normal, sports+, track, snow and wet can be observed. In the rear, the seats are not big enough for people but seem comfortable. The car has all the comfort features that one expects from a premium car like automatic climate control, heated and cooled seats, keyless entry, sync system, airbags, auto dim rear view mirrors, etc.
Apart from that, the real Mustang Legacy must be under the hood. Ford Mustang GT is powered by 5.0L Ti-VCT V-8 Engine which pumps out a maximum power of 435HP @ 6500 and 400 NM @ 4250 rpm mated with a six-speed gearbox. This probably makes Mustang the fastest car here in Nepal that actually roars like a beast. The company claimed mileage is 15 city/25 highway/18 combined which varies according to the riding conditions.
By launching the 2017 Mustang GT, the company has given a clear sign of where the auto market here in Nepal is moving on. It has also given a new hope for other companies for the new segments of the market. So, what do you think? Are you ready enough to get your hands on that steering?
