Khalti Digital Wallet, a payment gateway that recently received a huge popularity in the Nepali market and made a name for itself and the country by taking it to the global platform, has reached another milestone by being selected for Spring Accelerator Programme. Under this program, Khalti believes to change lives of adolescent girls in Nepal through digital payment technologies.
Spring Accelerator Programme is a five-year programme sponsored by UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), the Nike Foundation, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) that aims to bring a change in the lives of adolescent girls by identifying and aiding businesses that can offer life-enhancing products and services to girls.

Being a part of this unique program among 20 start-ups from 9 different countries [Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Myanmar], Khalti will play a role by providing leadership opportunities to 5000 teenage girls of Nepal via its digital payments by conducting a special project: “Smart Chhori”.
Under this project of 9 months, Khalti aims to provide various sets of life skills to the girls from every nook and corner of the country that will encourage them to come ahead by making them financially independent through income generating activities. This project will also provide them various opportunities that will make them more confident and make them win the key to professionalism which ultimately leads to building our nation smart with her Smart Chhoris.
