The all-new Ford Freestyle has been freed on the first of May in Nepal at the Labim Mall by the GO Automobiles Pvt. Ltd, the authorized distributor of the Ford vehicles in Nepal. The Freestyle is the Compact Utility vehicle or a Figo facelift version that is currently available on the market.
Despite some inspiration, the Freestyle looks quite different from the standard version of the Figo as it gets new design language and elements inspired from the SUVs. The proportion of the car is now full-fledged as it stands a bit taller, wider, and longer as well. However, as it is based on the Figo platform, the wheelbase remains the same.
There’s a three-dimensional grill on the front and extensive lines across the body. To further enhance the looks of the car the front bumper gets an integrated skid plate on both front and the rear as a protective element. Apart from that there are other cross-hatch styling elements like the black-out high contrast headlamps, along with a fog lamp bezel, roof rails with integrated brake lights, LED tail lamps and 15″ wheels offering the ground clearance of 190mms. And all these elements give Freestyle a personality of its own.
The interior of the Freestyle is spacious and it is also up marketed as the interior quality seems to be better than that offered in the Figo. In the middle front, there’s 6.5-inch infotainment display similar to the one found on the EcoSport, that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Ford Freestyle also comes with keyless entry, one-touch-down front windows, rear parking sensors with a camera, push-button start, height adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control and 257L of boot space.
Underneath the Freestyle is the all-new 1.2L, 3 cylinder, petrol engine borrowed from the new Ford Eco Sport which produces 95 BHP and 120 NM of torque mated to the all-new 5-speed gearbox to complement the sporty/utility characteristics of Freestyle. There’s also a 1.5 L diesel version of the car that churns out 100 PS of peak power and 215 Nm of torque. What makes the Freestyle different from others is the exclusively tuned suspension with increased track-width, high ground clearance, TCS, ABS with EBD and for the further safety, it comes with six airbags.
Ford has also debuted the Active Rollover Prevention (ARP) in the Freestyle for the safety in the extreme situations without compromising the riding quality. The ARP is combined with Electronic Stability Control, and the system will automatically detect potential rollover situations by applying brakes to individual tires and decrease engine torque.
The new offering from the Ford Nepal, Freestyle will be placed in between the Figo and the new EcoSport lineup. The difference here between those two is that it’s offered with new technology and features that add to the safety of the people, which might be a plus point for the buyers.
