Facebook is coming up with a new and clean design for its messaging app, Messenger. The company revealed a teaser to show some unique changes and features of the upcoming new messenger update during its F8 conference held in California.
Facebook Messenger is currently the second most popular messaging app on the internet after WhatsApp, which is also owned by the company itself. WhatsApp seems to be clean and minimal meanwhile Messenger has some bloats and seems might seem to be overwhelming for many users.
Now the company seems serious regarding its security as well as usability and is bringing visible and subtle changes in its Messaging app. Some of the changes include:
- The decrease in access buttons and tabs (up to three sections)
- Camera and Call buttons at the top of the chat list
- 4K videos and high-quality images
- The decrease of buttons from 6 to 4, within a conversation
The company won’t look to literally remove any of its current features in the app, rather it may replace one with the another. Again, another interesting feature to look out for is the dark mode of the application. You can refer to the F8 conference coverage for detailed information on the app.
The company has also mentioned that the new changes will most likely make the Messenger app fast, clean, and compact. Although Facebook hasn’t mentioned exact date about when the new Messenger will hit the store, they have hinted that it will be available “very, very soon”.
So, what do you think of the current Facebook Messenger? What feature do you like and hate the most in it? And what features do you really want in your messaging application? Don’t forget to put your answers in the comments below.
