Alongside the launch of Nova 3, the Nova 3i was also showcased. The premium mid-ranger is a successor to last year’s beloved Nova 2i. And to say the least, the phone is a solid upgrade to its predecessor in every nooks and corner. The phone’s available for pre-order, likewise, users who pre-order the phone are assured to get a free Bluetooth speaker.

The thing that differentiates the Nova 3i with its predecessor is a significant change in aesthetics. The phone’s totally upgraded from back to front. Unlike Nova 2i’s metal body, the 3i got a shiny glass back, while the front is more sublime with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a notch at the top. The IPS LCD display measures 6.3-inches and has a pixel density of 407ppi.
Another magnificent feature the phone has is definitely its four cameras. The Nova 3i, just like its brother 2i has a dual-camera both at the front and back. But this time it’s more superior. The front’s got a similar camera to Nova 3: a dual 24MP + 2MP sensors. Both sensors, when paired, works wonder to produce vivid selfies even in dark lighting conditions. It’s definitely a godsend for selfie fanatics.
And then, there’s a pair of 16MP (f/2.2) + 2MP camera at the rear, which is equally good to the Nova 3, if not better. Between two, the first is an RGB sensor (with PDAF) for capturing normal pictures, whilst the second is a depth sensor for producing photos with bokeh effect.
Just like the Nova 3, the Nova 3i also supports AI functionality and is capable of detecting between over 200 different scenes across eight different categories, including beaches, plants, night, stage performance, blue skies, flowers, rooms, and snow. A handy little thing and a feature that’s critically acclaimed by many people in the likes of Huawei Mate 10 and P20 Pro.
With all the camera things and design, one thing that has really been understated is got to be the phone’s internal. The Nova 3i runs on a Kirin 710 chipset; a fresh new thing right out of Huawei’s factory. The powerful chipset is accompanied by 4GB of RAM and an astronomically high internal storage of 128GB. That’s more than enough storage for media junkies. And not to forget the GPU Turbo technology in this phone either. The GPU Turbo is expected to increase the phone’s GPU performance by 60 percent while maintaining the battery efficiency at around 30 percent.
All these things are powered by a decent 3,340mAh battery inside and are run by Android 8.1 Oreo on top of Huawei’s EMUI 8.2 skin.
