After being debuted at MWC 2018 through Nokia and ZTE smartphones, the Android Go has hit the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core this time. The device will go on sale in India and Malaysia with more market on the list. The new Galaxy J2 Core from Samsung, as expected, comes with the “Go” set of Android apps and is expected to appeal new entrants into the market.
The device stands average with 5-inch qHD display and a decent 2,600mAh battery inside. The “Go” edition of the phone is based on Android 8.1 Oreo and has “Go” apps like YouTube Go and Maps Go. Despite the “Go” moniker, the software is still built on Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. And the only thing here to see is that if it will age well or not.
Powering the phone, as expected, is average internals. There’s 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage matched with Samsung’s beloved Exynos 7570 14nm processor. You definitely won’t be firing up the PUBG in this, but Android Go will make most out of the available hardware. Similarly, the camera’s average as you would expect: 8MP f/2.2 rear and 5MP f/2.2 front.
Available from India and Malaysia starting today, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core will go on sale for a price tag above $100. No reports of it being available outside these two countries.
