MAW Life Automobile Pvt. Ltd. has officially unveiled the Jeep cars in Nepalese market at NADA Auto Show 2018. However, as for now, the company is going to launch the India Made “Jeep Compass”. In India, it was launched last year and recently they’ve got the 2018 model with certain updates. Price of subcompact SUV starts from 68.5 lakhs in Nepal, while users also have options to max the specs reaching around a price tag of 1 crore in Nepal.
The Jeep Compass is a proper looking SUV that one could expect from and is a handsome looking car. It does look like the Baby Cherokee as it is hugely inspired by the Grand Cherokee. In the front, it gets the signature seven slab grills of Jeep. Likewise, it also gets bi-xenon headlamps, LED DRLs and the fog light that is positioned well in the front to make it look a dashing one. On the side, it gets some design elements like a chrome strip that runs all around the car that divides the body from the roof that makes a floating roof design. It also gets the trapezoidal wheel arches. On the back, it gets the LED tail lamp that goes very with the overall design.
Inside the cabin, the fit and finish seem top-notch as it gets dual-tone cabin color, leather steering wheel, leather seat, U-connect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Dual-zone automatic temperature control and rear AC vents. The rear seat also seems to be very premium and comfortable. It also houses 428 liter of boot space and 1251 liter with seats down.
The Jeep Compass comes in three trim levels: Compass Sport, Compass Longitude, and Compass Limited. It is powered by the 1956cc 2.0L Multijet II Turbo diesel engine that churns out the max power of 173ps@3750 rpm & max torque of 350nm@1750-2500rpm mated with a six-speed gearbox with the fuel efficiency of 17.1 kmpl. On the other hand, 1368cc 1.4L Multiair Petrol engine that churns out a max power of 163ps@5500rpm & max torque of 250nm@2500-4000rpm mated with a six-speed gearbox with the fuel efficiency of 14.3kmpl. The Jeep Compass Limited edition is the top trim level which gets 4×4 and automatic gearbox on the petrol variant.
Talking about the safety, it gets 50+ safety and security features which makes it one of the safest cars on the road. It also gets the strong body structure; the Compass is also equipped with advanced chassis controls including Four-channel Anti-lock Brakes, frequency selective damping suspension, full-function Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control, Hydraulic Boost Failure Compensation, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Panic Brake Assist, etc. Apart from that, it also gets the six airbags; two on the front, side curtain on front and rear, and seat-mounted side airbag. It also has a rear camera, blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-path detection, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, full-speed forward collision warning with active braking, and park sense system.
