Generation Next Pvt. Ltd, the official distributors of Apple products in Nepal has debuted the all-new iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and Xr in Nepal. The three new iPhones is possibly the most powerful smartphones out there in the market, albeit the high price tags it carries.
Taking a look at the iPhone Xs and Xs Max, both phone shares similar hardware. Both have Apple’s A12 Bionic chipset and comes with an upgraded 4GB of RAM. Both of them are having dual camera setup with a 12MP primary f/1.8 lens and 12MP secondary telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. Either of the phone’s cameras is optically stabilized. Both the devices have improved water resistance than last year — the iPhone Xs and Xs Max come with an IP68 water and dirt resistance rating rated to survive 2m depth for 30 minutes.
The only difference here is that the Xs Max is undeniably bigger than the Xs or last year’s iPhone X. The Max variant has a bigger 6.5-inch OLED display that bears a resolution of 1242 x 2688 pixel and 458ppi. The screen is 19.5:9 in aspect ratio and shares similar HDR10/Dolby Vision compliance.
The iPhone Xs, on the other hand, has a smaller 5.8-inch OLED display which outputs a similar ppi or resolution to last year’s iPhone X — i.e. 1125 x 2436 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 458ppi. The display is also Dolby Vision/HDR10 compliant and produces vibrant and dark colors.
Out of the bunch, talking about the iPhone Xr, it’s the most affordable iPhone in 2018, though the price tag is yet debatable. It has a 6.1-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 828 × 1792 that gives it a pixel density of 326ppi. Despite it coming with an HD display the phone sure doesn’t compromise on performance with the same A12 Bionic chipset, this could be the sweet spot for the price to the performance side of thing.
The real star of the show is none other than Apple’s A12 Bionic chipset. This time, the new Apple A12 Bionic chip has been manufactured on the 7nm FinFET process which not only should provide these phones with improved performance, but also should improve power efficiency.
Talking about the power efficiency, the iPhone Xr is theoretically expected to provide more battery life than both the Xs and Xs Max, albeit a bit low powered battery capacity than the Xs Max — i.e. 2,942mAh. The iPhone Xs has the lowest one out of the bunch, with just 2658mAh capacity, while the Xs Max sits there with a bigger 3,174mAh battery.
Moving back to the iPhone Xr camera, though single, it rocks the same 12MP primary camera as that of its elder brothers with an f/1.8 aperture. This device comes with IP67 water and dust resistance rating. This, however, skips the 3D touch feature and a telephoto lens.
