After launching the Key2, Saakha Group, the authorized distributors of BlackBerry smartphone has unveiled yet another smartphone in Nepal. This time it’s the BlackBerry Evolve — a mid-ranger from BlackBerry with uncompromised build quality.
Let’s just get right into the specs. The Evolve, unlike its Key counterpart, has no signature physical keyboard which in turn result in a modern looking 18:9 display. The 5.99-inch display pops out a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and a pixel density of 403ppi. Likewise, what BlackBerry likes to call an uncompromisable build quality, the Evolve’s display comes with Gorilla Glass 5. Besides software security, the protection should offer its user peace of mind from drops and scratches.
However, despite superior security features and build, the Evolve has a strange hardware configuration. The phone has a Snapdragon 450 processor, which simply put is not groundbreaking in this day and age given its price point (which we’ll talk about later). Thankfully, the RAM and storage sit at 4GB and 64GB respectively. And then there’s support for microSD card.
The camera has not always been a forte of BlackBerry smartphones but the Evolve tries to leave no stone unturned, at least on paper. There’s a dual 13(normal) + 13MP(B/W) camera which shares similar specs; a 1/3.1-inch sensor with 1.12µm pixel size and support for PDAF. For selfies, you get a decent 16MP camera at the front.
The whole phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with almost stock look but with BlackBerry’s added security features (fingerprint and face unlock) and software like BBM. Inside, the phone has an impressive 4,000mAh battery that charges through the Type-C port. And thanks to the Quick Charge 3.0 support the huge battery charges in no time.
BlackBerry Evolve Price in Nepal and Availability
The BlackBerry Evolve is now available for purchase in Nepal and the phone will run you down some handful of cash; i.e. Rs. 32,800. That’s some huge money to pay for a phone that still comes equipped with an entry-level internal. With hardware that eeks you out and a questionable price tag, the phone’s suitability for the Nepali market is debatable.
