Himalayan Motorrad, the authorized distributor for BMW Motorrad in Nepal has now opened the booking for the new BMW F 850 GS — the adventure tourer bike at a whopping price tag of Rs. 36 lakh. And with the launch of this, the company will have three bikes under their fleet after their successful launch of the G310 R and the G310 GS.
STYLING
The new BMW F 850 GS is the mid-sized adventure tourer bike. With the heavy price tag comes the heavy looking bike with all the required build material that makes a complete tourer bike. The 850 GS has a similar characteristic as its elder sibling — the R 1200 GS. Upfront it gets the typical asymmetrical LED headlamps with the daytime running lights.
There’s a 21-inch cross-sport tire in the front and 17-inch at the rear built for multi-purpose. As for the suspension, the ADV bike gets the 43mm USD fork and for the rear, it gets the monoshock that offers hydraulic adjustable pre-load and rebound adjustability. On the rear, it gets the luggage bar and under-seat exhaust.
FEATURES
The bike has access to a host of connectivity options for the riders like navigation, smartphone connectivity, media, and vehicle relevant data as it houses a huge 6.5-inch TFT display. The mid-sized GS gets five different riding modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic, Enduro, and EnduroPro. BMW F 850 GS has a saddle height of 860mm and offers a ground clearance of 9.8-inches.
The brakes are taken care of by 305 mm dual disc brakes with a double-piston floating caliper and single 256mm disc brakes with a single-piston floating caliper at the rear. It also gets standard ABS which can be switched off. The 850 GS can hold up to 15 liters of fuel and it weighs at 229 kg.
ENGINE
BMW F 850 GS gets the 853cc liquid cool parallel-twin engine that makes 95 PS of power @ 8250 RPM and 92NM of torque @6250 RPM mated to a six-speed transmission. For the smooth downshift it gets the slipper clutch. The company claims that the bike can reach the top speed of over 200kmph.
