After some rumors and leaks, the Vivo iQOO is now official. It’s the first ever and the most powerful Vivo smartphone till now, thanks to the Snapdragon 855 processor and some custom liquid cooling solution that makes it the beast of a phone.
The powerful hardware, likewise, certainly justifies Vivo’s slogan for this phone — i.e. “Monster Inside”. While this is not the first gaming phone in the market, the iQOO is quite unique on its own; that’s because it has a sleek body that goes well with the glass back — something which is missing on gaming phones from Razer and Asus.
And to top it off, the phone comes with as high as 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, though there’s also a low-end variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Albeit numbers, changes can also be seen in terms of the way it charges. The 6/128GB variant comes with 22.5W charging support, while the 12/256GB model supports up to 44W fast charging. Again, it’s something we have already seen before but just to put in numbers, the 12GB model charges its 4,000mAh from 0 to 100% in just 45-minutes.
The phone has a 6.41-inch OLED screen with waterdrop notch and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The thing that makes this phone for gamers is that it comes with “super liquid cooling” with a vapor chamber. Other than that, there are also other features like AI Turbo, Net Turbo, Center Turbo, Game Turbo, Cooling Turbo all combined in one service called Muli-Turbo. All this will most probably enhance your user and gaming experience by boosting the frame rate with over 70%. It will also boost the startup by 30% and will automatically switch between Wi-Fi and 4G for smooth gaming.
Mobile gaming and photography are two poles apart but Vivo has something for mobile photographers as well. The Vivo iQOO has triple-camera at the back: one is a normal 12MP shooter, the other one is a wide-angle Sony IMX263 sensor, and the remaining is a 2MP depth sensor.
The price of the Vivo iQOO starts at CNY2,998 ($450) for the 6/128GB variant. The 8GB/128GB variant will go on sale for CNY3,298 ($490), while the 256GB variant will cost you CNY3,598($530). The maxed out 12GB/256GB variant will set you back CNY4,298; that’s approximately $640. The phone will be sold through flash sales which is starting from the 6th of March, 2019.
