Xiaomi’s new fitness band, the Mi Band 4 goes official in China today. The new watch comes with some major changes; probably the biggest ever in the series.
Unlike previous models, this one has a 0.95-inch AMOLED color screen with 120 x 240 resolution and a 2.5D scratch resistant glass. The dial features 77 lively themes for distinctive personalization and 8 bands, including the Avengers Edition.
One of the vital changes to the device is an addition of the new six-axis high precision accelerometer for improved sports tracking and swimming stroke detection. Additionally, you get a waterproof chassis for you to wear the watch inside water up to 50m; this should help in detecting swimming skills according to your performance.
Likewise, another major addition to Mi Band 4 is a built-in microphone to trigger Xiaomi’s Xiao AI voice assistant. The voice assistant will help users control IoT devices as well as other smart devices. The pricer model has an NFC inside which should work for digital payments, public transport cards, and easier phone pairing.
With fitness tracking being its predecessors’ forte, the Mi Band 4 does not compromise on this aspect either. The heart rate monitor is still present and so as the sleep quality index borrowed from its previous models. On top of that, it also supports Bluetooth 5.0 for a reliable connection, while Xiaomi claims a maximum 15 days of battery for the NFC variant and 20 days for the normal one.
Price for the normal variant without an NFC will cost you CNY 169, i.e. $24, whilst the one with NFC goes for CNY 229 ($33). The special Avengers Edition can be purchased for CNY 349 ($50). Availability of the device outside of China is yet to be unveiled.
