MediaTek makes its new gaming-centric SoCs — the Helio G90 and G90T — official. Both SoCs are octa-core: two Arm Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55 alongside the Mali-G76 GPU. And both the G90 and G90T are built on TSMC’s 12nm FinFET process that can be clocked up to 2.05GHz. Moreover, these new SoCs support up to 10GB LPDDR4X RAM.
And the highlight of the SoCs is the use of HyperEngine game technology that allows the support for an array of functions that should enhance the gameplay experience. The networking engine is superior among them that can automatically combine WiFi and LTE connective thereby boosts signal strength.
Similarly, the new SoCs bring support for dual WiFi connectivity, which allows a single device to connect simultaneously to two routers in that ensures a more reliable connection and decreased latency. Again the presence of HDR10 support and display touch acceleration adds to the fluid in-game experience.
The gaming smartphone industry seems to be taking a pace nowadays. And looks like MediaTek want to gain traction in the industry with more affordable offerings in contrast to rivals Qualcomm.
MediaTek has also hinted that the new G90 series will debut on a Xiaomi device in India soon.
