Oppo introduces its two new A-series smartphones, the A91 and A8. Both phones bring mid-range specifications at belligerent price tags.
Let’s take a brief overlook over each device.
Oppo A91
The Oppo A91 brings a 6.4-inch AMOLED display on the table with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. The screen’s aspect ratio sits at 20:9 and has 411ppi pixel density.
The device gets its power by an octa-core MediaTek MT6771V Helio P70 chipset based on 12nm technology, while the Mali-G72 MP3 handles the graphical processing. The A91 runs on Android 9.0 Pie with ColorOS 6.1 skin on top.
About memory, the phone has an 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage with expansion up to 256GB using a dedicated microSD slot.
Similarly, about the cameras on the new Oppo A91; it boasts a 48MP main sensor along with an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP dedicated macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. These get complemented by an LED flash and HDR feature. Also, the main camera is capable of capturing a 2160p video at 30fps.
Again, the camera on the front is a 26mm wide 16MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and HDR. It’s capable of recording a 1080p video at 30fps.
The sensors used in the phone include an optical under-display fingerprint sensor, an accelerometer, a gyro, proximity, and a compass sensor.
The A91 uses a non-removable Li-Po 4,050mAh battery with 30W fast charge support. It gets the VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 that allows the device to charge 50% in around 30 minutes.
The device is available in three different colors: Dark Blue, Red, and Blue.
About pricing, it starts at CNY 1,999 ($285) with the official sales starting on 26th December.
Oppo A8
The Oppo A8 is an entry-level device. It flaunts a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with 720 x 1600 pixels resolution. The screen features the same 20:9 aspect ratio but with 270ppi pixel density.
The device runs on Android 9.0 Pie with ColorOS 6.1 on top. Similarly, it gets its power from an octa-core MediaTek MT6765 Helio P35 SoC based on 12nm technology. Handling the graphical processing is the PowerVR GE8320 GPU.
As for the memory, the device uses a 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. And you can further expand the storage up to 256GB using a dedicated microSD slot.
About the lenses on the Oppo A8, it flaunts a triple camera setup at the back — a 12MP wide, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. Also, the main camera is capable of recording a 1080p video at 30fps.
For selfies, the front houses an 8MP lens with f/2.0 aperture placed in a waterdrop notch. It gets an HDR and is capable of recording a 1080p video at 30fps.
You can pre-book the A8 if you live inside China. The 4GB/128GB variant is available at a starting price of CNY 1,199 ($170) with official sales starting on 26th December.
Finally, you will find both the Oppo A91 and A8 in China while there are no words for their international availability yet.
