Vivo unveils the new iQOO 3 5G smartphone. Followed by a series of hearsay, we finally get to see how the device really turned out to be. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, the new iQOO packs a number of software tugs that concentrate on gaming. Moreover, it carries the LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage along with the ultra-fast charge technology.
Moving on to the display, the device flaunts a 6.44-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED screen that keeps the fingerprint sensor underneath towards the bottom, while a punch hole at the top right corner housing a 16MP selfie shooter. The company calls it a “Polar View Display” that can top up to 1200nits in brightness in certain cases as well as supports HDR10+ content playback. Again, the display comes with a 180Hz touch sampling rate that helps minimize the input lag whereas the screen refresh rate numbers to the standard 60Hz.
As for the optics, the new iQOO 3 boasts quad-camera setup at the back — a 48MP f/1.8 Sony IMX582 main, a 13MP f/2.46 telephoto, a 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and a 2MP depth sensor.
Similarly, the most talked-about feature of iQOO 3 is the 5G connectivity. Although, 5G is still commercially unavailable in India thereby the device, for now, only serves as futureproofing.
The device carries a 4,400mAh cell with 55W Super FlashCharge support, which the brand acclaims to top up half the charge in just 15 minutes. It runs on Android 10 with its own iQOO UI 1.0 skin on top which brings the Ultra Game Mode on the table allowing users to block notifications as well as calls while gaming.
As of the hardware specs, the device comprises two shoulder keys aka Monster Touch buttons. Keeping its focus on gaming, it gives out 4D game vibrations, which mimics recoil as you are shooting a gun during gameplay. The Monster Mode gets activated as you hold the two keys together that runs the chipset at 100% which is expected to minimize lag in some cases, although battery taxation is definite.
As of the availability, the new Vivo iQOO 3 will be out in three variants 8/128GB priced at INR36,990 ($515/€475), 8/256GB priced at INR39,990 ($555/€512), and the 12/256GB with 5G connectivity enabled priced at INR44,990 ($625/€575).
