The Coronavirus aka COVID-19 outbreak is at its peak in the world and the impact has led to a complete nation lockdown, only started two days ago. So, we hope all of you are responsibly home quarantined. Well, with cases uprising from one to two to now three, we also urge you to cooperate with the Government and test if you have traveled to some places inside and outside of Nepal even if you don’t feel a symptom or two.
Moving on, lockdown is never easy when all you are doing is stay quarantined in your residence. Some of you might be working while some might be surfing the internet and binge movies all day long. For this, two of the major telecommunication service providers of Nepal: NCELL and Nepal Telecom (NTC) have launched great offers for consumers during the lockdown period.
Ncell offers 15GB of the data package for Rs. 230
Update [2020/03/26]: NCELL has decided to offer a 120% bonus on every recharge above Rs. 10. The bonus balance can be used within the Ncell network for call, SMS, as well as data service, though you can’t purchase any data or voice packages. But bear in mind, the bonus balance must be used within 3 days.
NCELL is offering a total of 15GB weekly data package for just Rs. 230. The 5GB data will surf on 4G while remaining 10GB on 3G/4G both. You can dial *17123# and search for the given package to enjoy.
Similarly, the loan option gets extended with the availability of Rs. 40, Rs. 80, Rs. 100, or Rs. 200. As before, dial *9988# to acclaim the loan.
Furthermore, NCELL also urges its consumers to use online payment methods to recharge. You can directly visit its website and pay using debit or credit card and even recharge via mobile wallets (eSewa or Khalti) or banking.
The balance transfer within the NCELL network is free. The transfer limit for a day remains 20 times and Rs. 10,000 with a maximum transfer balance of Rs. 500 each. You can dial *17122*<receipient’s_mobile_number>*<balance># to achieve the transfer. Or you can even make use of the NCELL application to serve the purpose.
Nepal Telecom provides a 100% bonus on every recharge
On the other hand, Nepal Telecom (NTC) is coming up with a 100% bonus on every recharge from tomorrow (March 26, 2020) but the recharge has to be above Rs. 10. The bonus balance can be used for data (cannot purchase data package), SMS, and voice call service within the NTC network with validity ranging from 2 to 10 days period, while it can not be transferred or even gifted. The offer is applicable to GSM and CDMA prepaid as well as postpaid, and multiple positions.
On recharging Rs. 50/100, Rs. 200/500, and Rs. 1,000 using recharge cards, you get 100%, same recharge card balance amount, and Rs. 1,000 bonus with 2, 4, and 6 days validity respectively. While on MPOS and electronic recharging of Rs. 10, Rs. 100 up to 499, Rs. 500 up to 999, and Rs. 1,000, you get 100% same recharge amount with 2, 4, 8, and 10 days validity respectively.
Whereas, if you use Telecom’s ADSL or FTTH services and can’t make their payments with the country already under lockdown, the company will continue serving you the respective services. Besides, if you missed the landline bill payment in your deadline and the lockdown is now already in practice, Nepal Telecom will not impose you any fine.
