Qualcomm’s new fast-charging technology isn’t as usual as its previous generation, despite the fact that the company has been pioneering it for a while. Rather than pushing for higher speed over the last one, Quick Charge 3+, as the company calls, is a limited version catered for premium mid-rangers with Snapdragon 765 chipset.
This means the technology will charge the phones from 0 to 50% in 15 minutes.
Qualcomm, through a press release, also mentioned that they are working on bringing this technology to more affordable smartphones. As opposed to prior ones, this one will be 35% faster and up to 9-degrees cooler. The charge will be carried over USB-A to USB-C cables and will function with accessories supporting scalable voltage from Quick Charge 4.
Also, as it comes with the new single IC design, the phones won’t need any overvoltage protection chip, a sense resistor, and any other chips. Quick Charge 3+ will be made available for both wireless and wired charging, and it will work even when used at the same time.
