Get ready to waste your whole weekend, as the megahit GTA V will be reportedly available for free starting today until May 21. Yes, it will be yours to keep forever.
A reliable source informed Gamepressure that Epic Games Stores is lining up to offer the popular Rockstar game for entirely free of charge. What’s more exciting is that the freebie will be coming as the Premium Edition — this includes the standalone game, Grand Theft Auto Online, and abundance of additional content with free online money.
While GTA V — released initially in 2013 and with GTA VI on the verge — is nearing its end, it still draws a lot of people’s attention, grabbing 10 million sales between February 2019 and now. Also, the game is being played by numerous Twitch streamers with nearly 78 million hours of viewing time sitting in at the top 5, as per TwitchMetrics.
Gamepressure further adds that Rockstar releasing the game for free will help them cash in more revenue in GTA Online microtransactions, so the gesture is entirely not a charity on their part. But again, you can choose not to spend a dime in-game.
This news certainly excites me about saving my cash on the game, as I was already looking to purchase the game on Steam, while the other part of me fears the thought of wasting my whole lockdown week doing nothing but playing GTA V.
Be ready to waste your time as well.
