Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has unveiled its 10X series. The lineup sees three new phones, the 10X 5G, 10X Pro, and 10X 4G which is basically a rebranded Redmi Note 9. Talking about the features, the Redmi 10X 5G and 10X Pro offer dual SIM 5G connectivity, AMOLED displays, Dimensity 820 chipsets, and reasonable price tags for the targeted market.
The front of the 10X 5G and Pro variant has a 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and waterdrop notch. The waterdrop notch on the 10X 5G holds a 16MP selfie, while its Pro sibling gets 20MP one. Both phones also share the same 180Hz touch sampling rate and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
At the back, there’s a 48MP main camera on both phones, plus an 8MP ultra-wide snapper, the Pro, though, adds an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS as well as a 5MP macro lens.
Inside, the duo shares the MediaTek Dimensity 820 chipset with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM on the 10X 5G and 8GB RAM on the Pro model. Storage-wise, both phones have up to 256GB of capacity. On the software front, we have the new MIUI 12 on top of Android 10. Both handsets have a 4,520mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging on the 10X 5G and 33W on the 10X Pro. On the other hand, the duo also has an IP53 rating with a headphone jack, whilst the Pro adds the NFC.
For pricing, the Redmi 10X 5G starts at CNY 1,599 (~$224) for the 6GB/64GB variant, which makes it the most affordable 5G smartphone in the market. For 6GB/128GB variant, you’ll have to spend CNY 1,799 (~$252), while the 8GB/128GB model costs CNY 2,099 (~$294) and for 8GB/256GB it costs CNY 2,399 (~$336). Sales will begin on June 1.
The 10X Pro, though, will get only two variants: 8GB/128GB for CNY 2,299 (~$322) and 8GB/256GB for CNY 2,599 (~$364). The phone will go on sale starting on June 6.
As for the Redmi 10X 4G, it’s already up for sale for CNY 999 (~$140) for the 4GB/128GB variant. The 6GB/128GB model is for CNY 1,199 (~$168).
