Khalti Digital Wallet’s Android app just reached a new milestone receiving 1 million downloads on the Google Play Store. Khalti has emerged to become one of the most preferred mobile payment solutions in Nepal over the last 3 years with service including mobile balance top-up, utility bills payment, remittance, bank transfer, ticker booking (movie, airline, and bus), etc.
Following the recent milestone and years of hard work, the company will now be launching the Khalti app in the Nepali language. Besides 1 million+ downloads, Khalti Digital Wallet even acclaims a number one rank as the most searched app on the Google Play Store.
Mentioning the achievement, the Director of Khalti, Mr. Amit Agrawal said, “Yes, we are very excited that Khalti has gained so much popularity in such a short time. We are indebted to the general users for the trust, confidence, and love they have given us. While the government is promoting the payment process through digital technology, we would like to thank all Nepalese for making Khalti an integral app for their smartphones. We warmly welcome all of them to our family. We will continue to work with all types of businesses, organizations, and service providers in the Khalti to make every transaction payable from mobile.”
Similarly, the company noted Khalti’s contribution to encouraging Nepalese to go digital and make online payments. Meanwhile, it has been running the ‘Smart Chhori‘ (Smart Women) campaign for the past 2 years thereby helping young girls and women understand the Fintech trends, digital payments, online security, and so on, hence serving Nepal to become cashless.
The Nepal Telecom Authority mentions around 379.90 million — translating to nearly 127% — of people using mobile phones and 73% of people using the internet. Therefore, Khalti sees a great opportunity in serving Nepalese users, providing financial services accessible on the platform.
We would like to congratulate the whole Khalti team for the achievement and wish them continued success.
