The Redmi series in Nepal has got its new member today, the Redmi 9. The launch is a part of the Secret 7 campaign that Xiaomi Nepal teased a while ago through their social media handles.
Starting off, the major change can be seen at the front — the Redmi 9 now has a Full HD+ display in comparison to the Redmi 8, which had a 720p screen. The panel measures 6.53-inch diagonally and has a Gorilla Glass 3 layer on top. The phone is also P2i splashproof which should protect it from minor water splashes.
The back sees four cameras: the first being a 13MP f/2.2 main shooter, 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide snapper with 118-degree FoV, a 5MP f/2.4 macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Selfies are taken care of by an 8MP f/2.0 camera hidden inside the waterdrop notch.
Underneath we have the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of storage. The phone has two nan-SIM and a dedicated microSD card slot for expansion up to 512GB.
As with most of the budget Redmi phones, the Redmi 9 also has a chunky 5,020mAh battery with 18W fast charging support, albeit you have to buy the supporting charging brick separately. Fortunately, the port is USB-C, while there’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack. Other feature includes Bluetooth 5.0, Wireless FM Radio, and IR blaster.
