October’s phone announcement has started, and Realme is one of the first to announce its new Q2 series mid-rangers — all three phones have 5G support and Android 10 out of the box.
Among the three — the Realme Q2 Pro, Q2, and Q2i 5G — the Pro variant is the most powerful of all with an AMOLED screen and 65W fast charging. The Realme Q2 5G slots right between the two phones and the Realme Q2i 5G is an affordable 5G smartphone.
Realme Q2 Pro 5G
The Realme Q2 Pro, as the name suggests, is superior among the three with Dimensity 800U chipset and 8GB of RAM underneath. The front of the phone has a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel with Full-HD+ resolution, a punch hole at the top with a 16MP f/2.1 selfie camera, and a fingerprint scanner under the display.
The back sees a quad-camera with a 48MP f/1.8 primary sensor, alongside an 8MP ultrawide shooter and two of 2MP modules — including B/W and macro lens.
Remaining feature includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and dual-SIM slots. Pricing starts at CNY 1,799 (~NPR 31,279) for the 128GB variant and CNY 1,999 (~NPR 35,000) for the 256GB variant,
The Q2 Pro will come in Gray leather with a “Dare to Leap” tagline embosed at the back or with Rainbow gradient color options. Sales will start on October 21 with pre-bookers getting a discount.
Realme Q2 5G
The normal Realme Q2 has a bigger screen — 6.5-inch LCD and a 120Hz refresh rate, however, the fingerprint scanner is shifted to the side. Just like the ‘Pro’ variant, this one also has a Dimensity 800U chipset with 4GB or 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage.
The camera on the vanilla Q2 also stays the same at 48MP and 8MP ultrawide shooter, but it only has one 2MP sensor for macro shots. There’s a 16MP selfie camera on the front housed inside a punch hole up top.
In terms of endurance, the Realme Q2 has an upper hand here with its 5,000mAh battery unlike the 4,300mAh on its Pro sibling, but the fast charging is limited to just 30W, which is still great in this day and age.
For pricing, the Realme Q2 will cost CNY 1,299 (~NPR 22,500) for the 4GB variant or CNY 1,399 (~NPR 25,000) for the 6GB trim, with both versions getting CNY 100 discount at launch. The phone will go on sale from October 19 in two color options — Blue and Silver.
Realme Qi 5G
The Realme Qi 5G is one of the few affordable phones with 5G support — it comes at CNY 998 (~NPR 17,300). The phone, unlike the two, brings a Dimensity 720 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.
At the back, we have three cameras with the main one being a 13MP sensor, and the remaining two are 2MP snappers for portrait and macro shots, though they are just there for numbers. For selfies, there’s an 8MP selfie in the waterdrop notch.
The front gets a 6.52-inch LCD screen with 720p resolution, while the fingerprint scanner on this one is at the back.
Under the hood, the phone gets a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
The Realme Q2i 5G will be available from October 21 in two color options — Blue or Silver, with some diamond-like finish at the back to give it a fancier look.
