Redmi has announced the much-awaited Redmi K40 lineup, a flagship series comprising Redmi K40 Pro+, Redmi K40 Pro, and Redmi K40. All of these smartphones come with an E4 AMOLED display from Samsung with a 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate, the highest ever seen in any smartphone to date.
The display supports HDR10+ hence tops at 1,300 nits brightness, which can further be tuned across 8,192 steps on top of DCI-P3 color gamut thus an A+ mark by DiplayMate.
The trio carries Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800-line chipsets, the base variant with Snapdragon 870 5G based on 7nm fabrication, whilst the other two with Snapdragon 888 based on 5nm fabrication.

We are looking at a 4,520mAh cell across the lineup with fast charging up to 33W via USB-C that leverages regular USB Power Delivery 3.0 and QuickCharge 3.0+. The battery is said to go from 0 to 100% in around 52 minutes thanks to the charging optimization used.
For connectivity, the devices support sub-6 GHz 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, NFC, and IR blaster. These even get Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio certification for the greater audio experience though lack a 3.5mm audio jack. Interestingly, all of these devices have an X-axis linear motor that is used for haptic feedback.
Meanwhile, the K40 lineup is IP53 rated for dust and water resistance. The screen lies beneath a Gorilla Glass 5 layer, however, the fingerprint scanner sees its place embedded in the power button at the side.
Here we will look at each device from the Redmi K40 series in brief followed by price and availability.
Redmi K40 Pro+
The K40 Pro+ has a 120Hz 6.67-inch Super AMOLED display with 2400 x 1800 pixels resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio that translates to a total of around 395ppi density.
Running on MIUI 12 on top of Android 11, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset coupled with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage but lacks any memory expansion option.
Moving on to the cameras, it has a triple camera setup at the rear including an f/1.8 108MP wide, an f/2.2 8MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro sensor with LED flash, HDR, and panorama support. At the front lies a single 20MP wide sensor with HDR for selfies.
Shipping in Black, White, and Aurora colors, the Redmi K40 Pro+ is available for pre-order starting at a price of CNY 3,700, which is around NPR 66,100 in Nepal, with sales kicking off as of 4th March.
Redmi K40 Pro
While the display configuration, operating system, and chipset remain identical, the Redmi K40 Pro ships in three different memory variants — 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
As for the optics, the Redmi K40 Pro flaunts a triple camera setup comprising an f/1.9 64MP wide, an f/2.2 8MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro sensor with LED flash, HDR, and panorama support. The selfie shooter is also similar to the eldest sibling in the series.
Shipping in similar color variants as well, the Redmi K40 Pro is available for pre-order at a starting price of CNY 2,800, which is around NPR 50,000 in Nepal for 6GB/128GB, CNY 3,000 (~NPR 53,600) for 8GB/128GB, and CNY 3,300 (~NPR 59,000) for 8GB and 256GB variants with sales kicking off as of 4th March.

On to the cameras, the device has a triple camera setup at the back that includes an f/1.8 48MP wide, an f/2.2 8MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro sensor with LED flash, HDR, and panorama support while the selfie shooter remains identical.
