Xiaomi Nepal has announced the Mi Portable Bluetooth Speaker (16W) in Nepal. Although you don’t really get to see big brands releasing their Bluetooth speakers under NPR 10,000 price category, the likes of JBL and Anker dominate online as well as offline stores.
The Mi Portable Bluetooth Speaker, on the other hand from Xiaomi already looks impressive, at least on paper. It comes with 16W rated sound output, IPX7 certification, Bluetooth 5, and USB Type-C charging port, all at NPR 5,499.
Here, we will be taking a brief overview of the Bluetooth Speaker from Xiaomi followed by its price in Nepal and availability.
Overview
Inspired by the company’s previous Mi Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker from 2020 in terms of design, you are getting the same exterior that is wrapped with fabric, buttons that are made up of rubber, and an elastic cord. You can place it both vertically and horizontally, although the latter will get the controls upward while the rubber grips sitting on the surface.
Similarly, the controls given are for power, volume, Bluetooth pairing, playback, and not to mention a separate button to pair the speaker up with another one.
The speaker comes with IPX7 certification protecting it against water and dust. The USB-C charging port also gets a rubber flag to the right alongside a 3.5mm socket. And of course, there is Bluetooth 5.0 with support for SBC Bluetooth codec for connectivity.
The 16W sound output is divided into two 8W full-range drivers. The two equalizer modes include deep bass and normal. You can toggle the two using the play/pause button and ‘+’ pressed together. And you can double-press the power button to turn on the voice assistant that ships by default.
The speaker carries a 2,600mAh battery that is said to take nearly 3 hours to fully charge via USB Type-C port using a 10W wall adapter. However, you don’t get an adapter inside the box. As for battery life, Xiaomi claims the Bluetooth speaker will provide 13 hours of playback time.
