Vivo has released the all-new Vivo Y53s. Although Vivo already has a Y53 in its Y series released way back in March 2017, the new device is not a successor to Y53. Well, it nowhere near looks like it, but rather it looks like a successor to the Y52s, which hit the market last year.
We have been seeing weird naming conventions from Chinese smartphone makers, particularly Xiaomi. And Vivo is no different. Anyways, let’s now get into the device.
The new Vivo Y53s carries a 6.58-inch IPS LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. The weight and dimensions numbers 189kg and 163.95 x 75.3 x 8.5mm respectively.
Running on OriginOS 1.0 based on Android 11, the Vivo Y53s is powered by a Snapdragon 480 5G chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of onboard storage.
At the back lies a dual-camera setup including a 64MP main sensor along with a macro shooter with support for focus at 4cm. Similarly, at the front is a single 8MP lens for selfies.
For protection, you get a fingerprint scanner that doubles as a power button at the side. The device uses a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging to keep its lights on.
The Vivo Y53s goes for a price of CNY 1,799 (around NPR 33,000 in Nepal) for 8GB/128GB and CNY 1,999 (~ NPR 37,000) for 8GB/256GB memory config. It’s scheduled to go on sales as of 11 June while already up for pre-order.
Regarding international availability, we will have to wait till Vivo makes further announcements.
