Original, 13 March 2021 (01:18 PM NPT): Right after making a comeback in the Indian market with its IN Note series, Micromax returns to Nepal after a long halt. The company has debuted the IN Note 1 smartphone in Nepal with Shankar International Private Limited (a part of Global Business Group) appointed as an authorized distributor.
It has also been reported that Micromax will re-enter the feature phone market — which it had a good grasp of — with three new phones pretty soon.
For now, what does the Micromax IN Note 1 brings, is it good enough to compete against the likes of other brands?
The IN Note 1 is Micromax’s new take on the lower mid-range segment. It comes with an Helio G85 chipset and 4GB of RAM. The front’s made up of a 6.67-inch Full HD+ panel and a punch-hole cutout for the 16MP selfie camera.
- Display: 6.67-inch IPS LCD; FHD+
- Chipset: MediaTek Helio G85 (12nm)
- CPU: Octa-core (2 x 2.0GHz Cortex-A75 & 6 x 1.8GHz Cortex-A55)
- GPU: Mali-G52 MC2
- Memory: 4GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage (expandable via microSD)
- OS: Android 10
- Rear Camera: Quad — 48MP primary + 5MP wide-angle + 2MP macro + 2MP depth
- Front Camera: 16MP
- Security: Fingerprint (rear-mounted), Face Unlock
- Battery: 5,000mAh; 18W wired charging (Type-C)
The back is where we can see four cameras, including the main 48MP sensor, a 5MP ultrawide, and two 2MP macro and depth helpers just there for numbers. There’s also a fingerprint scanner for biometric security.
Back when smartphone makers were divulging into custom skins, Micromax kept it clean, and the IN Note 1 won’t be any different. It will ship with Android 10 out of the box without any custom skins or UI. The company is totally into stock offering from Google so much so that it has integrated a dedicated Google Assistant button on the left side.
You’ll have an impressive 5,000mAh battery running the show with 18W fast charging done via a Type-C port. There’s also support for Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM RAdio, and Dual 4G VoLTE.
