Tecno mobile’s official distributor in Nepal, Mahalaxmi Mobiles Pvt. Ltd. has added a new smartphone to its portfolio — Tecno Pova 2. It’s a follow-up of the recently launched Tecno Pova in Nepal, and the successor does bring plethoras of upgrades.
To start off, the front has a huge 6.9-inch 1080p+ panel, which is a significant upgrade from the 6.8-inch 720p+ of its predecessor. Although the refresh rate remains the same at 60Hz, the touch sampling rate gets one up to 180Hz.
At the helm of the Pova 2 is a bit powerful Helio G85 chipset with Mali G52 MC2 GPU. The Helio G85, in comparison to G80 in the prior model has a slightly better GPU courtesy of its higher clock, but it’s still not as powerful to push twice as many pixels.
On the flip side, you get 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The storage can be upgraded via a microSD card if in case you need that extra space for your files. Out of the box, the phone boots on Android 11 with HiOS 7.6.
- Display: 6.9 inches (~82.8% screen-to-body ratio); IPS LCD
- Resolution: 1080 x 2460 pixels (~389 ppi density)
- OS: Android 11, HiOS 7.6
- Chipset: MediaTek Helio G85 (12nm)
- CPU: Octa-core (2 x 2.0GHz Cortex-A75 & 6 x 1.8GHz Cortex-A55)
- GPU: Mali-G52 MC2
- Memory: 6GB RAM, 128GB storage; expandable via dedicated microSDXC slot
- Primary Camera: Quad — 48MP (wide), f/1.9, PDAF + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) + 2MP (depth); Quad-LED Flash
- Secondary Camera: Single — 8MP, f/2.0; Dual-LED Flash
- Sensors: Fingerprint (side-mounted), accelerometer, proximity, compass
- Battery: Li-Po 7,000mAh, non-removable; 18W fast charging
Albeit not so powerful CPU and GPU, Tecno says that the optimizations in the ET Game Engine and Game Space 2.0 will boost the CPU and GPU as needed making the gameplay much smoother; mainly in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
There’s also a massive 7,000mAh battery inside, which is 1,000mAh more than the original Pova, though it’s limited to 18W charging only. Thankfully, the microUSB port is gone making room for a Type-C port. The phone supports dual SIM with 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, and FM radio.
The rear camera also gets an upgrade to a 48MP main sensor — up from 16MP on the Pova — with an f/1.9 lens. There are three more 2MP modules to aid the main camera. The front has an 8MP selfie snapper.
