Asus Nepal has announced a new addition to its TUF Gaming series laptops, the TUF Dash F15 in two models — TUF Dash F15 FX516PM and TUF Dash F15 FX516PR. The TUF Dash F15 comes with the latest-gen processors up to an 11th Gen Intel Tiger Lake Core i7 – 11370H CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series GPU.
On top of the powerful core, you are looking at a few of the premium grade features including 240Hz refresh rate, Thunderbolt 4 port, Two-Way AI Noise Cancelation technology, an expansive battery that nets up to 16.6 hours of video playback, Type-C charging, and not to mention the TUF Gaming series’ signature military-grade durability.
Asus TUF Dash F15 Overview
Build and Design
The TUF Dash F15 line is lighter and thinner than what we have been seeing in the TUF Gaming series. It is 19.9mm thin and 2kg yet said to survive rigorous tests from extreme environments and ambient vibration to accidental knocks and bumps hence meets the MIL-STD-810H military standards.
Asus talks about how the new line represents a new direction for TUF Gaming, therefore designed with a streamlined new look and feel. It’s shipped in Moonlight White and Eclipse colors, accentuated by bolt blue backlighting on the keyboard.
The TUF logo also gets revamped and flaunts a modern look whilst the thin lettering across the lid underscores the slim new design direction.
Performance
Configurable up to 11th Gen Intel Core i7-11370H CPU, the Dash F15 is said to be the fastest Tiger Lake-powered laptop allowing seamless gaming to intensive tasks such as code compiling.
It can take up to 32GB of DDR4-3200 memory so that you will never fall short of RAM for multitasking. The PCI Express SSD takes care of load speed whilst space up to 1TB and an additional SSD slot ensures that you never have to worry about storage.
Behind the bottom panel lies SO-DIMM and both M.2 slots that are held in place with standard Philips screws. Similarly, there is a dedicated pop-open screw that pushes the bottom corner away from the chassis allowing you a smooth entrance under the hood.
Compared to the conventional counterparts, the surrounding hooks that hold the edges together are smaller and stronger for an easy lift off the panel.
Display and Graphics
As for graphics, the Dash F15 laptop is configurable up to GeForce RTX GPU. The GPU is paired with a fast display with up to 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time reducing motion blur. The panel covers 100% of the sRGB spectrum.
The Adaptive-Sync synchronizes refresh rate with GPU’s frame rate to reduce lag, stuttering, and visual tearing for ultra-smooth gameplay. To minimize distraction, the panel is framed by 6.2mm super-narrow bezels.
Battery and Power
The new line offers ample battery life with up to 16.6 hours of continuous video playback time. The new fast charging technology is said to charge the cell from 0 to 100% in just 30 minutes. The battery life can further be extended with Type-C charging that top off the charge from compatible adapters and power packs.
The laptop supports Type-C adapters up to 100W. The Type-C port works with Thunderbolt 4 and USB4. Thunderbolt 4 allows users to plug in a docking station to drive a desktop setup or hook up an external GPU to boost gaming performance and overall graphics power on demand.
You can connect other peripherals including the gamepad, mouse, and external storage using three USB-3.2 Type-A ports. HDMI 2.0b can be connected to a wide range of displays at resolutions up to 4K. The Type-C port also doubles as a DisplayPort 1.4 output to connect a secondary display. And you are getting Intel’s Wi-Fi 6 Gig+ (802.11ax) along with Gigabit Ethernet included.
Cooling
The Dash 15 comes with an advanced cooling mechanism, which comprises a substantial heat spreader and five copper heat pipes that dissipate thermal energy from the CPU, GPU, VRAM, and VRM into four heatsinks, each lined with thin fins to maximize surface area for heat dissipation and minimize resistance to airflow.
There is a dual-fan channel and the n-Blade fans made up of special liquid crystal polymer that makes enough space to fit 83 blades per fan while ensuring each blade is strong enough to hold up at high RPMs. The laptop leverages 0dB technology that switches off the fans completely when CPU and GPU temperature is low in the Silent operating mode.
The self-cleaning cooling mode prevents build-up on critical components like fan blades and heatsink fans. Updated anti-dust tunnels are built shorter for additional space for airflow around the fan. You can take fine-tuned control of the Dash F15 with Scenario Profiles that can be set to switch seamlessly amid three operating modes, which mix different cooling and performance profiles.
The Turbo mode contributes to maximum performance as well as fan speeds while the Performance mode optimizes speed and acoustics for the best gaming experience. There is a Silent mode that reduces power and noise for lighter loads like web surfing and video streaming.
Scenario Profiles can be set to trigger automatically when launching specific apps and games while changing additional system settings such as display profile and Windows Key behavior.
Sound
TUF Dash F15 line ships with a range of premium features. First off, there is Two-Way AI Noise Cancelation technology that eliminates a broad range of unwanted background noise from both input and output audio. It runs on the GPU, which allows GPU to focus all its resources on maximizing gaming performance.
The keyboard design gets a revamp with inputs under 30dB for free and discrete command input. The design is desktop-style and optimized for gaming with four dedicated hotkeys allowing quick access to features like volume, mic mute, and armory crate. The function keys are separated into the usual groups. The keyboard switches have a 1.7mm travel distance for an intuitive typing experience.
The DTS-X Ultra technology brings in 7.1-channel virtual surround sound to stereo headsets or speakers. You have options to choose among built-in presets for games, movies, and sports or even customize tuning with an embedded equalizer.
