Smart Cell, the private telecommunication provider of Nepal owned by Smart Telecom Pvt. Ltd has successfully started its 4G service in Nepal. The current move makes them the third company in Nepal to provide the service after Nepal Telecom and Ncell. Though the company’s mostly targeting rural areas of Nepal, the service is currently available for users residing in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and Pokhara only.
The company is currently using 5MHz frequency out of 12MHz provided by Nepal Telecom Authority. Alongside the 4G service, Smart Cell users will be able to enjoy new data plans provided by the company. Dubbed as ‘Double Data’ the company is offering 2GB of data pack for Rs. 235 only. With the inauguration of Smart Cell’s 4G service, it feels like the telecom sector of Nepal is heading in the right direction.
