The Government of Nepal, Department of Survey has announced NeLIS and Mero Kitta, the first serving as a central database of all data akin to survey and plots whilst the latter providing all services related to land online. This is a crucial step from the Government of Nepal paving the way to a digital nation and an important one amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Now let’s discuss both the platforms in brief followed by instructions to use Mero Kitta.
Nepal Land Information System (NeLIS)
As mentioned earlier, the Nepal Land Information System, NeLIS in short is a centralized database of all information regarding both surveys and plots that are being stored at survey offices all across Nepal. Hence, the system is ought to be beneficial to relevant authorities to keep track of all services including taxes being collected in every survey office.
Mero Kitta
You can access Mero Kitta from the provided link for services including map print, field book print, plot register print, tax payment, and so on with further services slated to be added gradually. Also, not all survey offices have been included on the platform with 108 out of 126 in total yet to be admitted. However, we do expect all of these to be added this fiscal year.
For application, you are required to choose a service and submit your full name, contact number, a scanned copy of your citizenship certificate (not more than 2MB in size), along with a land ownership certificate and land description based on the land ownership certificate. Once done, you will be receiving the One Time Password (OTP) to be kept securely up till the service ends.
Mero Kitta will then verify your application, hence send the outstanding tax to your mobile phone. Upon successful payment of the same via bank voucher or Connect IPS, it will provide you a copy of the map in its platform in Portable Document Format (PDF). Even if you forget to recheck the website, you will be receiving a reminder on your device in the form of SMS.
Now, why do you need the OTP till the end? The map will be on the official website for 7 days only. And you require the OTP to download the same during the time.
