The Red Magic 6S Pro has been made official with a new Snapdragon 888+ processor, enhanced cooling, faster touch controls, and 5G connectivity. While the vanilla 6S variant is missing, the original 6 and 6R are still present.
The 6S Pro flaunts a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with 2,400 x 1,080 pixels resolution, 165Hz refresh rate with 120Hz, 90Hz, 60Hz modes, 720Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and 700 nits peak brightness. The display gets a Corning Gorilla Glass protection too.
Similarly, the fingerprint scanner under the display can detect heart rate. It’s not meant to be used for health but rather safety. Well, it’s fast as well at 100ms response time.
Running on RedMagic OS 4.0 based on Android 11, it’s powered by a Snapdragon 888+ chipset from Qualcomm that offers up to 7.5Gbps downlink, 3.0Gbps uplink, and Wi-Fi 6E with up to 3.5Gbps on a 6GHz band with less traffic. As compared to the previous Red Magic 6 Pro, the primary Cortex-X1 core is clocked at 2.995GHz up from 2.84GHz.
The ICE 7.0 cooling technology with Phase Change Materials (PCM) complements the added clock speed for a smooth performance. The tech is said to store heat as it generates whilst dissipate gradually subsequently.
There is an active cooling fan too that rotates at 20,000rpm thereby increasing air volume and air pressure by 30% and 35% respectively. The sound of the fan, on the other hand, is reduced by 40% courtesy of the metal covering.
Given the original Red Magic 6 lineup featured a special edition transparent Red Magic 6 Pro, there is a transparent Red Magic 6S Pro standard version too with a total of four RGB LEDs in the cooling fan. If you opt for the black, you don’t get the LEDs.
Meanwhile, the likes of Vainglory, Dead Trigger 2, and Real Racing 3 support up to 165Hz touch sampling rate. Fortnite, LoL: Wild Rift, and Genshin Impact inherently support shoulder triggers while you are allowed to set custom actions by making use of the RM tools for others.
The 6s Pro carries a 5,050mAh battery with up to 66W charging support. However, it ships with a 30W charger that is said to charge the battery from 0 to 100% in 65 minutes. On the other hand, the Chinese variant carries a 4,500mAh battery with up to 120W charging support. There is a charge separate mode in both the global and Chinese variants that lets users plug in without charging the cell.
Red Magic 6S Pro shares the rest of its features with the Red Magic 6 Pro including a 64MP primary shooter together with an 8MP ultrawide snapper and a depth unit at the back whilst a single 8MP selfie sensor at the front. For connectivity, it has a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.1, and USB-C port.
