The curtain has bee lifted up of OPPO F7, another selfie expert from the Chinese manufacturer. The OPPO F7 is something an iPhone X user would be familiar with, all thanks to that notch at the top which hosts an impressive front-facing camera.
Despite the unignorable notch, the phone’s 6.23-inch 1080p (2280 x 1080 pixel) display is certainly a pleasure to watch; credit should be given to its tall 19:9 aspect ratio. And the glass back of the phone certainly will give that premium feels, like every other smartphone.
Aesthetic aside, let’s talk about the phone’s impressive 25MP selfie shooter here. The front camera comes with an aperture of f/2.0, while also supports a range of other features. It supports HDR, meaning it will offer users well-exposed images in various lighting conditions. The HDR mode is accompanied by OPPO’s AI integration in the camera. The AI enhanced front camera will recognize if you are a male or a female and tweak your beauty accordingly. And then there’s the so-called Vivid mode which offers more saturation to your images.
The front camera will not only allow you to take selfies but also help you unlock your phone through facial recognition. As claimed, the phone’s software will make use of 128 recognition points to recognize your face. And giving continuity to the on-going trend, the phone has AR Stickers. It basically allows you to use stickers on images of your choice.
While the 25MP front camera deserves every plaudits and hype, we should take a look at the rear too. The OPPO F7 has a 16MP camera at the back with f/1.8 aperture and PDAF support. Sorry, there ain’t no dual-camera setup.
Let’s take a look at the internals. The phone boasts a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset with a clock speed of 2.0GHz. The chipset is either backed up by 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of onboard storage respectively. Both variants will come with a microSD card support. Typical OPPO!
However, the bummer here is that the 3,400mAh battery of the phone misses out on the fast charging. Though, fortunately, the phone boots on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, albeit the heavily customized UI it’s drizzled with.
The OPPO F7 will go on sale in India via Flipkart on 9th of April. Pricing of the phone is a little bit on the heavier side. The 4GB + 64GB variant will go on sale for INR. 21,990, whereas the 6GB + 128GB model is priced at INR. 26,990. Although, the pricing and availability of the phone in Nepal are yet to be decided, expect it to arrive here sooner or later.
The company also recently launched their R15 and R15 Dream Edition phone in Thailand.
