OPPO’s new R17 Pro has hit the shelves of Nepali market. The long-touted phone from OPPO has finally seen an official release today. OPPO R17 Pro is a premium mid-range offering from the Chinese company that comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner, a powerful processor and the eye-catching in-display fingerprint scanner; all in an exquisite piece of hardware.
Let’s talk about none other than the phone’s design. The back is encased in a glass with so-called fog lighting effect, the R17 Pro is as elegant as it can get. The aesthetics of this device is what makes it a head turner for sure. The rear, however, is missing one prominent feature — the fingerprint scanner. The mid-ranger now captivate the fingerprint scanner underneath the display, just like the OnePlus 6T.
Talking about the display, it is another forte of this handset. There’s a huge 6.4-inch 1080p display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio that is well complemented by the waterdrop notch above. The waterdrop notch, despite the hate, is still one of the best ways to consume media without any obstruction. And thanks to it, the display manages to offer 91.5% of screen-to-body ratio, whereas the Gorilla Glass 6 assures the protection from drops and scratches.
Then there’s the camera, which has always been the strong point of OPPO phones. And the OPPO R17 Pro is no exception here. The handset has a set of three cameras at the back that hosts a duo of capable sensors: i.e. 12MP+20MP. The 12MP is a wide-angle sensor with f/1.5-2.4 smart aperture that automatically adjusts to the lighting conditions. There’s also dual-pixel PDAF, and support of OIS. The 20MP is a normal sensor with f/2.6 aperture. And then there’s the third one with TOF 3D depth sensor used for depth perception as well as 3D photo capturing. At the front, you get the normal 25MP f/2.0 lens cramped inside the notch.
Now for the internals, it’s arguably one of the best mid-range phones out there. The OPPO R17 Pro has Snapdragon 710 processor that’s mated with a whopping 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The only bummer is that the phone doesn’t have any microSD card slot.
Another impressive thing inside this phone is a 3,700mAh battery that is parted into two halves — 1,850mAh each. This offers the two batteries to charge at an immense speed; thanks to the 50W SuperVOOC charging technology. As claimed, this shall charge the 40% battery in just 10 minutes.
Inside, the phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box overlayed by OPPO’s own ColorOS 5.1.
OPPO R17 Pro Price in Nepal and Availability
Impressive internals, a pleasing aesthetics, a powerful set of cameras, and 50W SuperVOOC charging; the OPPO R17 Pro is no doubt a beast. However, when it comes to the pricing, the phone is a major letdown. The OPPO R17 Pro is priced at Rs. 89,990 in Nepal and that’s a huge sum of cash for a phone that is still in the mid-range territory. We know the SD 710 processor is powerful than ever but there’s no denying that at this price range you’re bound to get a phone with a flagship chipset in it.
