The rumors and teasers about Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 were constantly surfacing online, so it was just a matter of time until the company came up with its release. And as said, the phone has been officially launched in Nepal.
Huawei has usually gone either the notch or punch hole way with their display, but the Y9 Prime 2019 has a pop-up mechanism, which happens to be the first from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, at least in Nepal. Talking about specs, it has a 6.59-inch IPS LCD Ultra FullView display with 2340 x 1080 resolution.
At the back, the phone has a triple-camera configuration: a normal 16MP snapper with f/1.8 lens, PDAF; an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera, as usual, comes with Huawei’s own AI stuffs for scene detection and other useful features.
Then there’s the 16MP selfie camera which is tucked inside the pop-up mechanism. The camera automatically pops up when you take a selfie and goes down when you are done. As per Huawei, the mechanism has been tested up to 100,000+ times with 15Kg of withstandable pressure. This should offer some peace of mind to users who are skeptic about the pop-up camera. And of course, the camera software comes with different AI stuffs for selfies.
Internally, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 has Kirin 710F chipset which is a slight improvement over the 710 SoC, offering more running speed and lower power consumption. Accompanying the processor is 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage with an option for expansion via microSD card.
All these is powered by an impressive 4,000mAh battery that can be charged through a USB Type-C port but with no fast charging.
