Social media as it turns out; is a curse and sometimes even a boon. But it has turned into an addiction, and in order to get our things done, we use various messenger apps. Viber is one of those apps we’ve happily adapted in our day to day life and use on a regular basis in Nepal. But what makes Viber so special that we Nepalese are hooked on to it, what are some of its useful features. Let’s get onto it.
Nepali Stickers: Always Fun
Calls and messaging is one thing, but there’s a lot more to it. For starters, we have stickers in our very own language which makes messaging even more fun.
Location Sharing: Viber To The Rescue
Then there is Location Sharing. Imagine yourself inviting a friend over at someplace he/she has never been to before, just open up your Viber app and under more tab there lies the option to send location; be it your current location or be it a meet-up point, Viber is there for the rescue.
Send Original Files: No Compression
The problem with other messaging apps is that while sending images and larger files, they end up getting compressed. Under the more tab of Viber, there lies the “Send File” or “Send Original Size Media” option, which lets you select the file; be it pictures that you clicked or some videos, with this option your files will be received on the other end without any compression.
Secret Chat: Privacy Covered
Viber’s “Secret Chat” feature opens up a new end-to-end encrypted messaging window. It works just like a normal chat window but what makes it interesting is the self-destruct timer that clears off all the chats after a certain time and you can’t even forward or screenshot anything on the secret chat screen.
If you want to get a little more privacy, you can even set a PIN to lock the conversation window and also archive it so that it won’t be available on the general messages, hence you won’t give away your private info. Privacy? Viber has you covered, as your secret chats can’t be tracked down by hackers or for that matter even Viber. To access this just head on to the chat window and tap your contact’s name or swipe to the left; tap the “Open Secret Chat” option for all the top-secret conversations.
Handy QR Codes
Sharing your contact with someone is just a QR code away via Viber. Head to the “More” tab and tap the QR code icon on the top right corner. Now you’re good to go.
Predict The Score
Then there are extensions for on-the-go updates for your favorite football team and you can even predict the scores and collect points. There are also GIFs and doodles that you can send which makes messaging more fun and interactive. Open your chat and tap the GIF icon to access all these features.
Over the last decade, internet coverage and reach have escalated. All thanks to ISPs and network service providers, everyone now a day is connected. VOIPs and messaging apps have evolved too.
