Rumors regarding the new Huawei P40 lineup are all over the internet already as we are nearing its expected release date. For now, we will be discussing the hearsay on devices’ Wi-Fi capabilities only.
ITHome, a Chinese outlet affirms the P40 lineup smartphones to come with self-developed WiFi technology, WiFi 6 Plus. Huawei is even said to announce its WiFi 6 Plus routers that will go along with the devices.
However, the difference between the current WiFi standard and the WiFi 6 connectivity is yet to get talked upon. Well, of course, we can expect enhancements in the speed and/or congestion.
Prior to this, WiFi Alliance stated that WiFi 6 has an ability of theoretical 9.6Gbps. But a Huawei executive allegedly asserted on Weibo saying that the WiFi 6 speeds are not as fast in contrast to the Mate 20 series, which is two-year-old. He could mean that the WiFi 6 supporting phone’s theoretical speeds top a maximum of 1,200Mpbs but reaches an actual top speed of 900Mbps. This means, there seems room for improvement in speed.
It’ll be interesting to see how the talked about WiFi solutions from Huawei aligns with other WiFi 6 devices to come.
